Dosha and your Space
Have you every thought about how your personality might affect your space, and your space affect your personality? We all want to be functioning at our optimum. And we know that through diet, exercise and our environment we can influence our wellbeing and happiness. However if we all eat salad and go jogging we aren’t necessarily setting ourselves up for optimum health. We are all different, different body types, different emotionally and different psychologically. So the food that is good for me, and the exercise and relaxation that is good for me might not actually be what is good for you. Same applies for environments, the spaces that make me feel good might not be the spaces that make you feel good.
Ayurveda acknowledges these differences and provides a kind of framework to understand this with the dosha system.
In Ayurveda your dosha is responsible for your physiological, mental and emotional health. Everyone is made up of the three doshas but their ratios are unique to each individual. Their differing proportions determine temperament and physical constitution. It helps to explain your tendencies and preferences. You are born with it however it can be influenced with life choices. Your dosha doesn’t change but rather is in balance or out of balance. When it is in balance you feel good.
If we can affect our dosha with diet, exercise, sleep and meditation then we can also affect our dosha with the spaces we inhabit.
If you haven’t already, do a dosha quiz and work out your dosha.
